Abstract: This research addresses mental health issues among vocational students in Nigeria, examining stress, anxiety, depression, and other psychological challenges affecting student well-being, academic performance, and overall educational outcomes in technical education programs. Mental health concerns among students in vocational education settings are often exacerbated by academic pressures, career uncertainties, and socio-economic factors, impacting learning experiences and retention rates. The study aims to (1) identify prevalent mental health issues and stressors among vocational students, (2) assess existing support systems and interventions for promoting mental health awareness and resilience in vocational schools, and (3) propose recommendations for implementing comprehensive mental health programs and support services to enhance student well-being, academic success, and retention in vocational education. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from vocational students, counselors, and mental health professionals familiar with student mental health issues and support strategies. A sample size of 300 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent vocational students, counseling staff, and educational administrators in Oyo State. Case studies will examine effective mental health initiatives and their outcomes in promoting student resilience and well-being. Findings indicated high prevalence of stress and anxiety among vocational students, identified barriers such as stigma and limited access to mental health resources, and highlighted the role of counseling services, peer support networks, and proactive mental health education in mitigating mental health challenges. Recommendations include enhancing mental health literacy, expanding counseling services, and fostering a supportive campus environment to prioritize student mental health and well-being in vocational education settings.
